Stayed for 3 nights before moving onto Dhigurah. Initially we had the upper room with balcony, but the balcony itself is without any balustrade/protection so we moved to a room downstairs. The rooms are basic but very clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and I particularly enjoyed having the masala tea in the morning. As mentioned by other guests, Raj, the manager, is a real can-do person and his good humour was appreciated as we arrived jet lagged and grumpy. Bikini beach is within easy walking distance but is tired looking, quite small and good for swimming but not snorkelling. The island of Maamigili isn’t really geared up for tourists so don’t expect much to do in the evenings and there isn’t a huge choice of restaurants. We ate in the nearby ‘The Chef’, the fish curry was good. We did look at one or two excursions, you can expect to pay $170/£135, per couple, for a whale shark trip or a manta ray trip. In summary, Vilu Residence is a good base on Maamigili, Raj will organise everything for you, e.g., for us, our ferry to Dhigurah, but 3 days is more than enough on the island.

First experience visiting Maldives and it was a 100% match, thanks to Rai and his staff. The level of empathy, support and willing to meet expectation was outstanding. This boutique hotel is pretty fresh, considering very recent construction + rooms are kept very clean. It literally took 2 min on feet to get to the immaculate clean beach, with spectacular sunsets and turquoise transparent water.
Grocery stores are located 10 min on feet from the hotel, so it's very convenient in case you need anything. On top of that Rai and his staff are open to support with food or grocery delivery anytime you need it.
Definitely recommend this place if you truly want to escape from overcrowded vacation places and enjoy every moment of your stay in priceless silence.

We found Vilu on booking dot com, sorting by highest reviews, because we were first time in Maldives, and were traveling blindly, so decided good reviewed host will help us bootstrap this journey. And all great reviews for Vilu are well deserved. We had an amazing and unforgettable stay at Vilu residence: it's new, clean, and most of all, host Raishan provides next level hospitality. For example: we went on a night fishing excursion, and from fish we caught, Raishan cooked an amazing dinner by the time convenient to us. He has an experienced team for excursions, so catching fish was not an issue. It's just one example, but everything was on same level. Gem of Maamigili, highly recommend if you visit this island, thanks Raishan.
